Wedding Guests Comments and Suggestion Box

Hello fellow travellers,
This blog site is for you to discuss things among yourselves; to ask questions of Trev or I (seeing as we know your destination very well); or to have a rant and see yourself online

So...ask away...rant away...discuss away...

Cheers,
Jenn

What ever you pack away for your adventure to vanuatu do not forget your snorkle glases and fins, there is a lot to see under all that water an adventure into another world, itwas a first time for me and at my age it was one of those things you need to do before you die.And you know what I AM GOING TO DO IT AGAIN YAHOOOOOO.:)

As per Lucy's request, here are some suggestions for the pre-flight process.

1. (24hrs before flight) Go to the Pacific Blue website and book your seats at their online check-in. Print your check-in documentation. Alternatively check in at the airport and they will give you your documentation there. There is a computerised check-in kiosk as well as the airline staff to take care of this.
2. Go to the airport early. i.e. plan to leave home 2 hours before your flight so you can be at peace regardless of the traffic and so forth. Once you are at the airport you can relax and enjoy a cup of tea while you wait for the others to turn up.

3. Fill out those little green forms for departing international travellers.

4. Once the baggage check-in lines open take your luggage and check that in and get your boarding passes and documentation, for those who didn't get them online.

You will need your passports and boarding passes so keep them with your itinerary papers.

Once you are through customs, put your feet up and wait to be called to board your plane.

There Lu, does that help?

If this seems too daunting, look for Di, Jay, Tim, Bec, Crystal, Mike, Michael, Pauline, Mal, and any of the other guests who are on the same flight. Lots of advisors will be there to assist and Trev and I will be at the other end to meet you when you get off the plane. You couldn't ask for a more "supported" journey.

:)

After driving past the gateway/airport roundabout today I think it would be best to leave home 3 hours before your flight schedule.

Hi Jenni and Trev. It seems that our last comments did not go through. Hope you get this one. We are thankful that you will be able to be there at Van'tu to greet us after the experience of arriving in a new country (England) after 8pm and searching the undergroung for a couple of hours. Robbie feels that since you are being so helpful could he offer any assistance in the honeymoon department?;)

Hi Shannen,

Thanks for your comment! You are welcome to post questions and there are a number of people who have just returned from Vanuatu who use this site so you might get more than one answer.

Here is some info for your upcoming trip.

A good one day (or even half day) snorkelling trip is to take a bus to Hideaway (Mele) Island. It is 200vatu (about $2.20) each way for the bus. Team up with a few people and you could grab a big taxi. I have the ph number of a very reliable bus driver who has his own business. Ask for the driver to pick you up at a designated time, although from Hideaway there are usually plenty of buses waiting for the trip back into town, especially on cruise ship days.
Hideaway has a day fee of about 1000 vatu (exchange rates are about 83 - 87cents to the vatu). You can snorkel to the underwater Post Office and send your friends a unique postcard, have a nice hamburger for lunch and then walk around the entire island. The little boat to Hideaway is free and if it is low tide you can even walk across, although it is nicer to ride in the boat.

Another nice place to visit on a short trip is Erakor Island. Same deal, grab bus or taxi and ask to go to Erakor Island. The ferry boat is free. The snorkelling is not as varied as Hideaway but the lagoon is beautiful and there are lots of brilliant starfish and some decent sea life to see. We saw a Moray eel last time, as well as clown fish, giant worms, seahorses, sea urchins and lots of smaller species of ocean fish hanging about the sponges and coral. Take a change of clothes and enjoy a nice coffee and a snack after your snorkelling to support the resort itself. Erakor Island's Roxy's overwater cafe is an idyllic spot for a rest after your adventures.

Meridien Charters also run terrific half and full day snorkel tours aboard the Caraid. I can recommend the sunset cruise. Meridien Charters operate in the harbour itself and can be found at the little wharf behind Le Cafe D

Part 2 Meridien Charters operate in the harbour itself and can be found at the little wharf behind Le Cafe Du Village near the big Sebel building in the main street.

You can do kayak trips with Island Dreams near Mele, or hire a canoe from Iririki Island, Erakor Island or take a day to visit Le Meridien which also has kayaks and is situated at the inland area of Erakor Lagoon.

If you enjoy nature you might like a horse ride with Club Hippique.

For swimming fun you could visit the Cascades (1000 vatu entrance per person) and walk to the top of the waterfall then swim in any number of rock pools on the way back. We also enjoyed sliding down the rock waterfalls which was great fun. Probably best to check the rock features at the base before your first attempt so you know where to aim for.

We are all back now and did most of the things on the itinerary and all had a fun time overall. Other comments are welcome guys

Were staying on Erakor Island resort so im glad theres good snorkelling there, do we need to bring our own snorkels? or is there plenty to borrow there. We are going in feb and ill let u no how it went! Thanks again for ur help :)

Hi Shannen,
Yes you will need to bring your own snorkel as the ones available for hire are not very good. Reef shoes are also necessary as is antibacterial cream for any tiny nicks or cuts. Plus insect repellant for night time outdoors.

Have a fab-0 trip.

Hi Crystal,
First of all I apologize for the spam that's hit this site. I'll have to see if I can remove it.

The good duty free shops are Paris shopping, Feng Kuei and the Seven Eleven.

You can try the others as well. Some have good stuff and others have better so check them all out just for the fun of it.
